The Avengers and Fortnite combine forces to battle Thanos…
In 2018 Fortnite and Marvel teamed up to bring Thanos to the game in celebration of the release of Avengers Infinity War. It was awesome, but the biggest gripe fans of both Avengers and Fortnite had with the Limited Time Mode was that only one player got to control the Mad Titan.
Also, if you were on the side trying to take him down to get your hands on the Infinity Gauntlet, he was massively over-powered and possessed a seemingly limitless health bar.
If you did somehow manage to beat him and grab the Gauntlet, you then had every player on the map chasing after you to take you down and nab it for their own nefarious purposes.
In short, it really wasn’t that much of a Limited Time Mode to play.
Heroes and Villains
In the Endgame Limited Time Mode, which arrived with Update 8.50 in April earlier this year, the developers changed things up quite a lot in order to keep things interesting for everyone on the battlefield.
In this mode, Thanos and the Chitauri army have invaded the island in search of the Infinity Stones. One team plays as the Heroes while the other team steps into the role of the Chitauri army.
The Heroes have a helping hand in the form of a treasure map that leads them to Mythic Avengers weapons wielded in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor and Captain America.
The Chitauri on the other hand starts the brawl with a laser, anti-structure grenade and a jetpack.
Titan Smash!
The first Chitauri to find one of the Infinity Stones is transformed into Thanos, who packs a super punch, jump ability and a laser beam attack that can decimate anything in its sights.
The more Infinity Stones Thanos finds the more powerful he becomes, while also powering up the Chitauri’s health bar. From here, the rules are simple – the Heroes have to take down the Chitauri and Thanos, while the bad guys have to grab all the stones and wipe out the Heroes.
Crazy Crossover
The Fortnite and Avengers crossover event has definitely been one of the most thrilling and enjoyable Limited Time Modes to come to Epic’s game in quite some time.
It was significantly wilder than a standard Battle Royale match, but that was because of how insanely powerful Thanos’ attacks were, as well as the weaponry crafted for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
It is a shame this Limited Time Mode has come to an end, because we would love to play it all day, every day! We are sure it will be back soon, so be sure to keep an eye out!
