Check out this round-up of our very favourite robot builds…
Robots Vs Humans
We are kicking off with this very cool air structure that is about as astronomical as it gets! To set the scene, the architect has described a world in which humans managed to get robots doing their bidding – for a while! But now, robots are fighting back and have destroyed the Earth. Pockets of humanity remain on separate islands in its former orbit. Will you side with your fellow humans in the very last battle against the robots, or will you join them in saying goodbye to humanity forever?
Robot Wars
You might want to take a little look at this redstone-controlled game, if you are up for a challenge. In it, you will find two combat robots that really look like the bee’s knees, and the goal of their battle has been designed to be very simple: destroy the robots’ spawn locations. These bots have sensors to determine how hard they are and each one has four lives. As soon as one loses all their lives, the other automatically wins, but this can be quite hard work, depending on your particular set of skills.
Colossus
Made using Thebaum64_skyonly texture pack, the architect says that Colossus is the most advanced piece of redstone he has ever created. He is fully functional and controllable by a single player, so it is not surprising that it took 50 hours of hard toil to put him together. The features on Colossus are certainly immense, boasting double mini nuke cannons, a precision longbow missile system and a sequential tomahawk missile launcher, but he also has a sky elevator and an elevator docking bay!
Chicken Robot
You know what it is like: you are hanging out playing Minecraft, grafting away, and it suddenly occurs to you… what if I had my own fighting chicken robot? No? So, you are saying it is just us? Oh! Still! You can have your own fighting chicken robot by downloading this incredible little map, where the aim is to fight against the mean Treehouse Gang and use your special power attacks – including a TNT egg throw – to defeat them. It works with command blocks and there are no mods required, so what are you waiting for?
Pup Bot Battle
Time to get a load of this two-team redstone-wired PvP map, which is set up to handle up to eight players. The goal is to destroy the enemy’s robot and steal the Ender Egg from inside, but it is the map’s features that really help it stand out from the crowd. Listing all of those here would take a while, so we will let you discover those jewels yourself. Getting down to brass tacks: this is one of our favourite robot PvPs, and hopefully you will be as into it as we are.
Remote Control Robot
If you thought we could resist a robot this cute, think again! This little blighter takes commands entered into a book and quill as inputs for the actions it has been designed to perform – it can run, jump, destroy blocks, interact with redstone and lay down TNT. If that all sounds too complicated, don’t worry, there is a full tutorial to take a look at. The architect was inspired by a few legendary robots, but this is one of the only ones we have seen that uses player-entered inputs.
Centurion Fight
This is such an adorable little PvP that, much like the previous entry, we fell in love with it immediately and knew straight away that it should get a mention here. You start by choosing a team and hop up into one of the robots. The objective is to destroy the opponent’s Centurion and then take out the opponent. So, will you choose the golden Centurion or the diamond Centurion? Confession time… we always choose diamond!
